The current case
challenging the
University of Michigan
policy favoring students
on the basis of race went
before the Supreme Court
last Thursday. It intends
to correct a terrible
injustice. Imagine if
schools admitted students
solely because their
parents donated millions
of dollars to that
school, or because their
father had gone there,
and not because their
grades were good enough.
We would never hear the
end of it. Fortunately,
just like in politics,
nepotism has no place in
higher education. Same
thing for diversity. |
