PEOPLE
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
D.B. Cooper
(A lot has happened since D.B. Cooper jumped out of a Boeing 727 clutching a bag filled with $200,000. That was 1971, almost thirty years ago, and we thought it was time to catch up with the mysterious Mr. Cooper.)
Today he's a civil engineer, married, with three kids, and lives in a Dallas suburb. "I'm a big Cowboys fan," he told us over the phone when we asked him if he had a favorite football team. However, when we asked what he did with the $200,000, a lot of money in those days, he acted as if he had amnesia. Or maybe he just didn't want to talk about it. That might also explain why he lists himself as D.V. Cooperman in the Dallas phone directory, where we located him in the first place. But he was delighted to hear from us. "This is the biggest thing that's ever happened to me," he said when told this interview might appear on the Internet.
